I picked up this vintage Nintendo Game Boy at a church yard sale along with 15 games. Although I can’t recall how much I paid, it worked fine. There were some repairs to be made to the console’s screen. It was about to fall off. It was taken apart and reglued.
This Game Boy I found was likely the first production of 1989, which launched in North America in July of that year. Within days of posting it, I sold it to a buyer from Canada after cleaning it up really nicely.
There is no Nintendo Game Boy in my inventory anymore. Below are some other sellers who sell them.
1989 Nintendo Game Boy for Sale
On average, Nintendo Gameboy consoles in working condition without any games were sold for around $45 and parts only for $10-15.
Nintendo Game Boy was first released in Japan on April 21, 1989, and later in North America and Europe. The Game Boy was the first handheld console with interchangeable cartridges, and it was also the first console to have a monochrome screen.
The Game Boy had a simple design and was powered by four AA batteries. It featured a small monochrome screen, a directional pad, A and B buttons, and a start and select button. The console was also equipped with a built-in speaker and a 3.5mm headphone jack for private listening.
The Game Boy was an immediate success, thanks to its portability, long battery life, and the wide variety of games available for it. Some of the most popular games for the Game Boy included Tetris, Super Mario Land, and Pokemon Red and Blue.
